Good news. Phew!

More good news, y'all!

Well, I got good news last Friday: I’m still in the small minority (25 percent) of kidney cancer patients who are “significant responders” to immunotherapy. In August, my tumor was an egg. (For me, egg = death). In November, it was a walnut. Last Friday, it was a grape-almond. As in, smaller than a grape and slightly larger than an almond. So yay. Shrinkage. Another miracle.

To celebrate, I'll leave you with this hilarious segment by comedian Wanda Sykes about diagnosing people with fruit. It makes me laugh every time because it’s so true.

So yes. I’m a grape-almond miracle. Maybe I’ll get lucky and be a pea next time.

That's wonderful news!!! Does the immunotherapy you use specific to your body, or is it made for anyone?

It's not specifically engineered for me, although there are some new treatments, namely Car-T for Leukemia, that do that. They don't have a version of Car-T for kidney cancer yet. I'm on Opdivo, which is used on a range of cancers and is reasonably successful! There are now clinical trials aiming to get these sorts of good results in more people, since it still has an overall low success rate. (about 25 percent in kidney cancer and 40-50 percent overall in all cancers.

That's great news. I will pray for pea size or smaller. Although that's a vegetable, so I guess it is just produce in general then.
