$3,000 off the mortgage

Our tax refund came today and we sent 75 percent of it to the mortgage, a total of $3,000 to principal. When it posts, hopefully tomorrow, we should be down to $32,200. I'm trying to get this house paid off as fast as I can. Each $1,000 in extra knocks one month off the pay off time, so this is 3 months off!

    Well, it didn't post the way I had anticipated. The bank treated it as a regular mortgage payment with additional added, so some of it went to escrow. This is all fine. That means when I send in my actual payment at the end of the month, ALL of that check will reduce the principal. It should put my farther ahead than I anticipated! I can't wait to have this house paid off!!!!

    Great! It will be here before you know it! And you already had your mortgage paid off on your previous house! That is really an accomplishment! We paid our mortgage off 5 years and 3 months after purchasing. I was obsessed about paying it off.
