$355 accident.

September 22nd, 2011 at 09:06 am

DH is a little bit clumsy. Last night he knocked a bottle of vinegar off of the shelf and it hit the range. The glass completely shattered. In huge, sharp chunks. Seriously. Ironically, the $5 botte of vinegar escaped unharmed. So now we need to replace the glass top of our electric convection range. The cheapest estimate is $355. Ugh. Not how I want to be spending money right now!

Ugh--what a pain. Last summer I knocked over a huge bottle of olive oil all over my tile floor. You feel like such a doofus.

  2. creditcardfree Says:

Darn. That is not a fun repair.

Oh, no! Well, it happens, right? I drove over a curb and bent a rim puncturing a tire right before vacation. Cost $102.

  4. Nika Says:

Thriftorama, are you hoping to open a TikiBar?

  5. ThriftoRama Says:

I was, but the reality of restaurant and bar work now that I'm a parent means it will never happen.

  6. North Georgia Gal Says:

Bad things happen. At least you have the money to cover it.

  7. ThriftoRama Says:

Hubby and I just talked about the estimate. He wants to price out the gas stove we had eventually planned to put in there. It'll cost more, and would move up the house project schedule a bit.

  8. MonkeyMama Says:

    Ouch!

  9. My English Castle Says:

A new stove seems like a good idea, if you were going to replace it anyway. It sort of makes it almost fun (kind of) instead of a pain.

  10. Looking Forward Says:

Wow! I can't believe it would shatter like that!
I would buy the new stove, if that's what you're planning anyway.

  11. ThriftoRama Says:

We bought the new stove. $599 plus delivery. Now I also have to pay the plumber to come run the gas line. Getting to be a spendy month. Ugh. I was planning to do this anyway-- but not for at least another year!
