We are officially buying the house

March 1st, 2011 at 11:25 am

As of today, we are in contract. The seller's second counter was for the price we wanted to pay. Right on the nose. Only caveat is they moved closing up two weeks, to the end of this month. Not optimal, but doable. Still, this is very scary. My mom said I look like a deer in headlights. Because I am! So much to do!

Exciting news! It's not too early to start packing! Pretend you're all camping, keep out only the basics. Collect free, partitioned boxes from a nearby liquor outlet, for bthrm & kitchen stuff, perfect sz. for books as large boxes get too heavy.

    LOL Petunia!

Congrats. The post office has "movers packets" that have great coupons for things you need when moving (eg, coupons for Home Depot/Lowes) so look out for that when you change your address.

Ugh. And crunching the numbers is giving me a headache. Mortgages are such a racket. Nickel and dimed. never again.

Just remember, as my lawyer brother has said time & again:

Houses hve nervous breakdowns when owners change. All the appliances die. Be prepared w/some cash savings.

Number crunching leads to stress for a lot of people, you are not alone. Hang in there, keep moving forward, and soon enough you will have the insurance of being in your new place. I wish you well!
