I got the card

I decided to go for it and give the Target red card a whirl. If it turns out to be too much hassle or the discount doesn't add up as much as I think it will, I will cancel it. Let's see how this works out.

    Your post reminded me to send in my application. Ironically, I don't think I have been to Target much since I decided to get the card (a couple of months ago?), but I suppose it goes in spurts. My dh does a lot of grocery shopping there, so will be useful. I can certainly spend a ton there, at times!

    I was just there today, and thought. What the heck. I'll try it. I'm generally on top of things, so what is one more account to manage? If it's too much of a pain, I'll cancel it.

    Did they give an immediate discount for applying, besides the 5%? You've made me remember how much more often I used to shop at Target when I had a child at home. Don't buy much there now.

    I didn't apply at the check out. I just went to the service desk. (They were busy and I didn't want to hold anyone up.) They gave me a barcode that is good for the discount, until my actual card comes in about 7 business days.
