Unexpected bonus money

February 19th, 2010 at 07:33 pm

In years past, hubby has gotten a bonus this time of year. With things so bad in the economy, I wasn't expecting it this year, but it came today.

Now, what to do with the money? Which goal should I put it towards? Should I just park it in savings? Put it in the bean college fund?

I used part of it to pay for the cooktop, so that is one goal met.

Good for your family. Congrats! I would put it in your emergency fund since you have two little ones! I hope you were asking for advice. Wink

I sure am asking for advice!
I moved most of it to savings today and will think about maybe moving the rest into the college funds.

Tiki bar. You need a goal for you. Smile

Okay, in re-reading the post, since it is a bonus and "couple" money, I withdraw the tiki bar suggestion. Still, money is fungible - think about siphoning off some of it and activate the tiki bar dream.

Hubby actually suggested some of it go to the tiki fund. Maybe I can just put back the amount I took out to pay off my student loan?

Plus, I am planning to put all of my earnings this year after taxes and 4000 to my ira into the tiki fund.
