starting meds

January 24th, 2018 at 09:30 pm

Well, my treatment medicine arrives tomorrow. I'm both in a hurry to start and terrified at the same time. Fingers crossed I can handle the side effects.

Of course, the good news is that the insurance is paying for the newer, stronger, and potentially better medicine. ANd OSU went a step farther to make it cheaper. My copay would have been $80/bottle. But OSU went ahead and got a copay payment card from the drug manufacturer which brings my out of pocket per bottle to $10.

I literally sobbed for a minute when I hung up the phone. I'm so scared this is going to bankrupt my family, but round one has worked out. I consider this the first small miracle.

Now guys, wish me luck. Let's hope the medicine actually works and the tumor shrinks (best case) or doesn't grow (considered good.).

Tomorrow, it all begins.

I wish you the very best and am hoping your body responds well to the meds. There is nothing wrong with seeking added support outside conventional medicine, if you think that may help you for mind and body wellness.

Thrift, you are in my thoughts and prayers for an excellent outcome and minimal side effects. The James rocks! I know two folks who were treated there, and both are now cancer free. One had a very aggressive cancer, and it has been 15 years since her surgery and chemo. So glad you are under their expert and compassionate care.

{{{Hugs}}} What wonderful news. With positive experience at OSU and financial assistance from manufacturers Copay card, one pressure point was reduced. As a survivor nearing a decade, I know from experience that your outlook, positive, forward thinking internal self messages are hugely important. Banish any negative impressions that flit by. Remember you have a huge, electronic team of friends praying and rooting for you every single day. Wishing you a tolerable experience with your new course.

I'm just catching up on your life, since having eye surgery... I'm so very sorry for what you are going through. Please never give up, and focus on those little wins, like getting the better co-pay option, dealing with a great doctor, etc. Keeping you and your family in my prayers.
