April expenses challenge, days 1-4

April 4th, 2012 at 07:26 pm

April 1:
No spend day

April 2:
$11 on lunch
Exercise: 1 mile run, 1 mile walk, half mile run, half mile walk

April 3:
$62.80 groceries
$150 tax prep
$22.97 Atomic Ranch book on Amazon
$15 on lunch with DS2

April 4: $11 on lunch.
$7.99 on birthday present for faux nephew
Exercise: 1 mile run, 1 hour leg and core strength training with personal trainer.

Yep. I eat out too much. I can't help it on Mondays and Wednesdays, mostly because I spend the entire day on the opposite side of town from home, but I could do better on other days, I suppose.

I love eating out also. You might want to think about what you really, really like about it, and see if you can scratch that itch in another way.

When I gave up eating lunches in restaurants, that's how I dropped about 10 of the 40 pounds. I'll have to think of something else now, but knowing that challenging yourself on giving up one thing might dovetail into reaching other-than-money goals.

Or you can focus on coupons and deals. I splurge on a nice meal out once a week, but rarely go anywhere that isn't having a special. {No deprivation that way, just stretching the money further}.

In this economy, the deals are really good.

    DH2?! Lol!

I don't eat out much, but when I do, I make sure to order something that I have zero chance of cooking at home. I love to cook and can make nearly anything, but my favorite meal at a local restaurant is an enchilada with mole sauce. This little place makes its own mole and it is heavenly! Probably not a lot of wonderful Mexican food where you are, though...

On Mon. and Wed. I eat out because I'm so far away from home, and I spend a lot of that time in my car or various places, so there really isn't a good way to pack a lunch.
