How can I make more money?

August 11th, 2008 at 04:04 am

I feel like I've hit a wall with the $20 challenge. I do eBay, sell this and that online, etc.

I need some new ideas on ways to make more money. It doesn't have to be a million dollars at a time, just something to get the tiki fund padded!

How do you all make money for your $20 challenge.

I'm interested in new ideas for NEW income. I choose not to count money I save from coupons, etc. So if you have any ideas, I'm all ears...

Babysitting is intriguing. But I do have my hands full with my own 4 month old!

    Surveys or Mystery Shopping?

Since January I take the ones place and change from my paychecks and put it toward my goal. That has added up pretty nicely over the months.

Anything my booming business makes above and beyond my "budgeted amount" in our spending plan counts as extra money. I also do eBay and I sell my used books on Amazon. Surveys are OK, but the time it takes isn't worth the money.

I do surveys... some are really long for crappy pay, but I have done a few that are $20 or $7, which is worth 10 or 15 minutes to me. I like SurveySpot and OpinionOutpost, I've gotten the most checks from them, and they're pretty timely.

Other than that, maybe you can find a once-or-twice a week child to babysit? BF's sister does that, and she has a 3 year old herself. It's a quick $30-$40 bucks, and most of the time they just watch TV or play games.

    Just some ideas!

I think I'll do babysitting when my bean is 2 or more. I think that will be easier. I have tried surveys, but I don't like the spam emails and the money isn't enough for me to rationalize giving out my personal info.

I do sell on ebay, etsy, and on Amazon. After shipping, it never seems to add up to much!

credit card balance transfers. Big Grin I am sure a lot of people here don't do them, but I have made an easy $1500 over the last 18 months or so. No effort.

    The 0% BT bible: "http://www.mymoneyblog.com/best-pre-screened-no-fee-0-apr-balance-transfer-offers"

Of course, now would not be the time to do them so much. I have a CD of about 6% that expires with my last BT and not sure I will do more right now with interest rates. But I would do again if I could get a decent interest rate.

Also, credit card rewards, local focus groups (will earn $100 for 2 hours this week), and buying/selling video game systems and games on ebay/craigslist.

As the little bean gets older, you can sell some of the baby stuff. Did you get shower gifts you think you'll never use? Return or sell them as well?

I also find that as I declutter junk, I can find one or two things to sell.
But enjoy the time with the little one, and opportunities will arise.

I don't add it to my $20 Challenge but I do have two booths in different antique malls. But, then again, I have a LOT of 'good stuff' that needs selling!

My first $20 challenge began when I went around the house and looked in all of my little cubby holes where I knew I had put change. I found money in clothes, in the sofas, and behind the sofas. I think deposited that money along with $250 that I borrowed from one of my escrowed funds and I was given $25 from that bank. (INGDirect). It is available from this website from Jeffrey for all of those who are interested. I was able to take out the $250 after twenty days but I continued adding in at least $20 per month and I was also making money from referrals (again from this website). I am now making over $6.00 a month in interest that I would have never made doing what I was doing by leaving money setting in drawers.

I also put in found money from the street. I add in my coupon money.

So I had this "great idea" right? Where I would trade stocks and make oodles of money.

    Yeah.

    Hasn't happened yet.
