Amazon free shipping min. now $35. Boo.

October 22nd, 2013 at 08:05 pm

Darn it. I just read today about Amazon raising the minimum purchase for free shipping from $25 to $35. Considering I do a lot of my shopping on here, I'm not happy. I usually barely make the $35. Darn it!

In other Amazon news, I did my annual piggy bank purge this morning at the Coinstar for an Amazon gift certificate. I had $81.51 in there. Coinstar is free if you opt for a gift certificate instead of cash. It's a good thing, because I've noticed Coinstar upped their sorting charge from 8 percent to 10.54 percent. That seems pretty steep to me.

Our weather guy is also talking about possible snow tonight, which around here in October is crazy talk. Good thing I picked those peppers!

We have Amazon Prime for $79 per year to get free 2 day shipping on most items. It includes streaming of videos and tv shows as well. You can use filleritem.com to find an item to get you to the minimum for free shipping!

Thanks for the tip on filleritem. I have heard you can share a prime membership with other people and get free shipping to several addresses. Do you know if that's true?

I was mortified to see a friend paid some absurd fee to cash out about $500 in change. (The fee was at least 10%). Ouch!

Heck, any money sitting around in a piggy bank makes my skin crawl. Wink But, giving away 10% of it is just insane.

    When is the amazon change??

    The amazon change started today.

I usually clear out the piggy bank once or twice a year. I'd never pay a fee, though!

You can share it with others in your same household...or up to four coworkers. I think you have to have the same primary address (thus a work address). I have sent things with my prime membership to other people, gifts in my case.

Not only did they raise the minimum order amount, but they also said that the shipping will take longer - such as 5 - 8 business days.
