Didn't get it.

March 15th, 2012 at 05:40 pm

Well, I didn't land the gig writing the restaurant guide. They said I was super qualified, but they went with someone else. Needless to say, I am increibdly disappointed, and feeling very trapped in a cycle of never-ending low-paying freelance gigs that are kind of going nowhere bigger and better. I guess that's middle-age! The realization that bigger and better isn't around the corner.

    Total Bummer!
Try to keep yourself open; something better might be waiting just for you... Smile

I know- freelance can be hard. I do food and travel reviews as a hobby only, but I've heard it is terribly competitive out there. Come to my #TravelChick Twitter chat on Saturdays 10-10:30 AM. I have producer friends that may entice PR people on there.

You are super qualified and while your disappointed, you can't let it get you down. Keep on seeking, searching and getting your name and qualifications out there. Perhaps send a 'thank-you' note to the interviewer, let them know you appreciated their time and hope they'll keep your name active. They may know of positions not yet advertised.

I hate to say it but it's often who you know, that gets you to the front of the line. Best wishes sent your way

Oh, DARN! I was sure you had gotten it! Seemed like a done deal in my mind!

Bigger and better is out there!

Phoo. BUT there is the possibility that their first choice will fall out in some way. Not trying to give you false hope, but when they at least compliment you, you've struck a chord. When all you hear are crickets, that's disappointing.
