Crock pot cookbook suggestions?

January 7th, 2011 at 03:41 am

I'm looking to buy one or two really really good crock pot cook books. Not something where every recipe involves a can of cream of chicken soup. But recipes that me and my toddlers can all eat. I'm all ears.

Try this site - so many recipes, so little time!

    http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/

(She has a couple books for purchase now, but you can access a lot of the recipes on her site.)

I also have the Fix-it and Forget-it series, though most of the recipes aren't as inspiring as ones on the above site, and there are quite a few with cream of ____ in the ingredient list.

Love my crockpot, and use it at least a couple times a week. Good luck in your recipe search!

I would suggest any from "Taste of Home" "Gooseberry Patch" and/or "Fix it and Forget it"

My sister, a busy working mom of 2 who wouldn't be caught dead feeding her kids anything made with condensed-cream-of-anything soup, likes "Not Your Mother's Slow Cooker Cookbook"

scfr: I might have to look into that, too. I have never bought cream of anything, and don't plan to start... I would love more crockpot ideas, too. Thanks!

I don't know why it just occurred to me to head down to the library to try out a few cookbooks before I commit to buying them. I can be so dumb sometimes!

i've stopped buying cookbooks since there are so many excellent sites available on-line.
Try cooks.com and add 'Crockpot' in the 'Search' window. You can make wonderful entrees without cream of anything soup, the banana bread is quick & easy

I second that crockpot365 web site. The women tries out many recipes and since she has kids she always mentions if the kids took to the recipe, etc. She tries any crockpot recipe imaginable.

We also get most our recipes from Taste of Home (we subscribe to their magazine, but many recipes on their website). All of our own crockpot recipes come from both of these sources.
