23 towels?????

January 22nd, 2010 at 10:06 pm

I'm on a serious decluttering kick. I think I'm up to 225 purge points.

So, I decided to tackle the linen closet. I took all of the towels out and realized I have 23 of them crammed onto two tiny shelved. I had no idea I had so many, and this doesn't even count the babies' towels. Geesh.

I think I can do with half that or less.
How many towels do you have hanging around? Am I the only one who thinks this is tooo many?

Yes...that is too many. I think we currently have 11 bath towels. We also have 7 beach towels. Oh my...I guess I'm close to your number!! I was just thinking we could trim ours down a little. However, when we have guests it is nice to have a few extra. I'd probably only need 8 at any one time.

oh i think we probably have the same amount as you. whenever they start getting crappy though, i use them for 'dog towels' (to dry them after i give them a bath).
also i refuse to buy floor towels so i usually cut up bath towels to use as floor towels Big Grin

Shoot. I think I have some beach towels around here that I forgot to count.

Oh well. I have pared it down to 13 towels, plus 2 for the beans, plus I guess 2 beach towels I forgot to add to the total. I think that will do,even with guests.

Should I donate the other towels or keep a few around for whatever comes up??

Cleaning cloths, or if you sew, they can almost be like batting for something. I have done that before and it worked well.

I have some much needed decluttering to do myself but just haven't gotten the nerve up to tackle my storage. I am sure I have a ton of towels

I have very few towels. Some of the towels I still have are for a house (bathroom colors) that I had built in 1972. Pretty old, huh?

I have 5 towels -- 6 counting the one the cat sleeps on!

I do have some old raggedy ones put away that I have used for packing.

I have 10 white towels and about 20 other assorted towels. Somehow we manage to use them all, especially with granddaughter visiting. We lay them under her and let her nap without a diaper because she has been fighting a diaper rash. I also bathe my dog myself which uses up a few. I think I actually still have one of our original 4 towels we bought when we got married 31 years ago!

I don't know how many I have, but I know I can go two days without washing towels. which is good to make it past Sunday, the rest of the week I try to do them every day.

That and a dedicated set for the pool in summer (one per person in house)

I decided to keep 14-- 4 live in the guest bathroom in the basement, 11 upstairs for us. 2 for the kids. That should be enough, I hope. I just put a giant bag of towels in the car to donate to goodwill. They are in decent shape, but really enough is enough!
