I'm a freelance journalist and crafter who dreams of starting my own business-- a hometown Tiki bar. I am a former New Orleans Bourbon Street bartender.

The tiki challenge: I must find creative new revenue streams, apart from my career.

Nov. will be no spend month

I was talking to the hubby about this blog post:

And he surprised me. Let's try it! Sounds interesting. Of course then he tried to talk his way out of it, but I committed him and us to only spending $250 or less in November (that doesn't include utilities, bills, savings, etc ).

I put it on the calendar. So we'll see. I am intrigued to see if we can do it, and what it will be like.

We didn't do october because his parents are coming to stay with us for a WHOLE MONTH. (Don't even get me started on that...)

ummm...good luck!? the idea of a no spend MONTH is somewhat overwhelming to me. Can it be done? I just dont know. you are braver than I for this challenge. And we will all hold you to it!

Technically, it's an only spend $250 month,according to the family in the blog, but hey, We all have to eat, right?

Oy --- A whole month with the in-laws? Good luck! After that, a "spend only $250 month" ought to be a walk in the park. I LOVE my in-laws, but a whole month??? Ayeee!

Nice idea! We spend about $200 on gas per month alone, so we'd have to tweak our total number. Perhaps we'll give it a try for the month of October!

My in-laws mean well, but are very high maintenance, so I think I already have an ulcer just thinking about their arrival.

If my inlaws spent the month with us, the next no-spend month would be a piece of cake.....

because I would be in prison. Or in a mental institution.
